ABOUT THE SEO WATCH
Because Your SEO Deserves the Truth
Most business owners know how much they spend on SEO. Far fewer know exactly what that money is buying.
SEO reports can look impressive. Contracts can be filled with deliverables. Agencies can complete everything they promised and still leave a business owner wondering whether their SEO budget is being used where it matters most.
The SEO Watch was created to give business owners an independent perspective on their SEO investment.
With 16 years of hands on SEO experience, I evaluate SEO contracts, agency work, reporting, resources, and results to help businesses understand what they are actually paying for and whether their SEO engagement is working in their best interest.
Who Am I

ANDY Johnson
I'm Andy Johnson, and I've Spent 16 Years Inside SEO
I've worked throughout the SEO industry, including:
- SEO agencies
- In house marketing departments
- Freelance consulting
- Link building
- SEO strategy
- Copywriting
- Analytics
- Marketing leadership
I've worked with organizations ranging from small businesses to major brands, including Yale University, US Dish, Paul Davis, Pillar to Post, Little Giant Ladder, and Partsology.
I've also worked with businesses in a wide range of industries, including home services, retail, casinos, adult businesses, and cannabis.
That experience has given me something that is difficult to learn from a textbook. I understand how SEO engagements are sold, how they are structured, how the work gets performed, and how it gets reported to the client.
Why I Started The SEO WAtch
SEO Became More Complicated. Accountability Didn't.
After years in the industry, one problem became increasingly obvious:
Most business owners have no practical way to determine whether they are getting appropriate value from their SEO investment.
The problem has become even more complicated as AI changes how SEO work is produced.
AI can help good SEO professionals work more efficiently. But it can also make it easier to produce content, reports, and other deliverables quickly without necessarily creating more value for the client.
At the same time, many agencies are managing larger client workloads with fewer people. When resources become stretched, strategic work can suffer even when the agency continues completing the deliverables in its contracts.
That creates an important question:
Are you paying for completed deliverables, or are you paying for effective SEO?
That question is at the heart of The SEO Watch.

THE PROBLEM WITH SEO DELIVERABLES
Your Website Doesn't Follow a Checklist
SEO is not static.
A website may need technical improvements one month, content the next, and authority building after that. But many contracts commit an agency to a predetermined number of articles, backlinks, pages, or other deliverables every month.
The agency can fulfill the contract and still spend resources on work that is not the highest priority.
That does not necessarily mean the agency is dishonest or incompetent.
It may mean the contract itself is limiting what the agency can do.
This is why The SEO Watch looks beyond whether tasks were completed. We examine whether the work, resources, and expertise being provided make sense for the website and the investment.
The goal isn't to catch your agency doing something wrong.
The goal is to determine whether your SEO dollars are being used intelligently.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF EXPERTISE
An Investigative Approach to SEO
Before SEO, my background included paralegal studies, criminal justice, and private investigations.
That experience shaped the way I approach SEO audits and verification.
I look for inconsistencies.
I examine evidence.
I compare what was promised with what was delivered.
I look beyond surface level reporting.
And I explain my findings in plain English.
SEO requires technical knowledge, but evaluating an SEO engagement also requires the ability to ask questions, investigate claims, and follow the evidence.
That investigative mindset is at the core of The SEO Watch.
What Makes the seo watch different
We Don't Sell the Services We Evaluate
The SEO Watch does not sell SEO retainers, content packages, backlinks, or other services that could influence our recommendations.
That matters.
An SEO agency has an obvious financial interest in maintaining your contract and potentially expanding the services you purchase.
We don't.
Our job is to give you an independent assessment of your SEO investment, whether that means confirming that your agency is doing good work or identifying areas that deserve attention.

WHAT WE LOOK AT
I would turn your four existing "problems" into something much more professional and less accusatory.
What Can Go Wrong With an SEO Engagement?
Fixed Deliverables
Your website's needs change. A contract built around fixed monthly deliverables may not give your agency enough flexibility to respond.
Resource Allocation
A large monthly retainer doesn't necessarily mean you're receiving a large amount of experienced SEO expertise. We examine the resources behind the work.
AI and Automation
AI can improve productivity, but faster production does not automatically mean greater value. We examine whether efficiency is actually benefiting the client.
Reporting
A report should help you understand what happened, what changed, and what should happen next. Activity alone isn't enough.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Independent. Experienced. Client Focused.
When you work with The SEO Watch, you can expect:
Independent analysis
No agency partnerships, kickbacks, or conflicts of interest.
16 years of SEO experience
Experience across agencies, in house marketing, freelancing, strategy, analytics, content, and link building.
Plain English explanations
You shouldn't need an SEO degree to understand what your agency is doing.
Evidence based findings
We examine the work and the information available rather than simply accepting what a report says.
A client side perspective
We work for you, not your SEO agency.

Client Reviews
Anastasiya J. (Dentist)
I hired The SEO Watch to independently verify and audit the work and reporting coming from another marketing company I was using. They did exactly what I needed: they thoroughly reviewed everything, clearly identified flaws, breaks in best practices, and some questionable behavior in the work that had been done.
They put together a clear, professional document outlining their findings. I submitted that document to my bank in connection with the loan I used to pay the marketing company, and based on The SEO Watch’s report, the bank returned the money to me.
I am very grateful for their expertise, thoroughness, and the concrete results they delivered. Highly recommend if you need an honest, third-party audit of SEO or digital marketing work.
JOHN B.
As the owner of a karate studio, I don't have a marketing background, so when an SEO agency sent over a contract, I wanted a second opinion before signing anything. I hired The SEO Watch and worked directly with Andy Johnson for a contract evaluation.
Andy went through the agreement line by line and flagged several things that needed clarifying before I signed. This included vague deliverables, unclear timelines, and a few clauses that weren't in my favor. He advised me to go back to the agency and ask them to address these points directly.
When I brought these concerns to the agency, they clarified some things, but flatly refused to add key protections to the contract. That refusal told me everything I needed to know. Thanks to Andy's review, I avoided what would have been a costly mistake for my business.
If you're about to sign an SEO contract and aren't sure what you're agreeing to, get a second set of eyes on it first. The SEO Watch and Andy Johnson saved me from a bad deal, and I'd recommend their evaluation service to any small business owner.
GRIFF
I run a tile shop and I don't know anything about computers or website stuff. I barely finished high school so all this "SEO" talk usually sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me. I had this company doing my website and charging me every month for "links," but I just had a bad feeling about it.
I called Andy to look into what they were actually doing. Man, Andy is a lifesaver. He pulled up the stuff they were building and showed me in plain English why it was total garbage. He didn't use big fancy college words or try to confuse me. He just straight up showed me that these guys were putting my tile company on weird, fake looking sites that had zero to do with tiling or flooring.
Because Andy showed me proof, I called that agency up and fired them on the spot. I learned my lesson big time. Next time I hire anyone for this computer stuff, I'm gonna ask way more questions and be a lot smarter about it. If you think your web guy is pulling a fast one on you, just call Andy.
